Date: January 30, 2002 Symptom: (2356) The picture may intermittently show a bright flash. The flash is typically a bright white horizontal bar about an inch wide that may appear anywhere in the picture. Several such horizontal bars may appear in succession. The flash may be accompanied by an arcing sound, or an arcing sound may be heard even though no flash is observed. NOTE: The warranty claim form must include CRT serial number in addition to the TV serial number. Claims that do not include both the CRT serial number and the TV serial number will be rejected. Refer to the CRT serial number found on the WTDS label on the back of the CRT, and copy it into the "Explanation of Service Performed" section of the NARDA Warranty Claim form. Enter the number in this format: "CRT S/N nnnnnnnnnnnn". Example for label shown below: "CRT S/N 121111145509" CRT serial number WTDS label found on the CRT. Solution: First, confirm the condition by the following methods: 1- Observe the flash on the screen. or 2- Observe arcing between the CRT pins by looking at the end of the CRT neck while the set is on.
