File name Service Bulletin OST-F1054-2.PDF 100 Corporate Drive Mahwah, NJ 07430 Service Bulletin No. : OST-F1054-2 Date: February 13, 2007 _____________________________________________________________ Model: S-301 Subject: Countermeasure for the malfunction of the HDMI operation (Drop- out of the picture). Symptom: If a DVD is played back using the DVD Drive on the S301, after connecting the S301 to the Image Monitor by means of the HDMI, the picture interrupts once in approximately one to two hours in frequency, and the screen turns into black. The screen recovers after two to three seconds. Cause: During the HDMI connection, the communication is always performed between the HDMI Transmitter (IC705 SiI9030) and the DVD Processor (IC10 ES6138F) via the 12C BUS. However, a noise mixes in the DATA and CLK lines of the 12C BUS, and the HDMI Transmitter recognizes it incorrectly. As a result, picture drop-out occurs. Solution: Attach 47pF Capacitors (See pictures) between the DATA and CLK lines and the GND respectively in order to remove the noise mixed in the I2C BUS. Modification Procedures: 1) P. W. Board to which the modification is applied: 1U-3692 (1) Disassemble the unit and separate the Loading Mechanism and P. W. Board so that the modification can be performed on the side (under the Loading Mechanism) where the Part Number has been printed on the 1U-3692. In this case, please be sure to solder and short-circuit the pattern-lands to protect the Pick-up. (2) Please refer to the attached page and attach two 47pF capacitors between the through-holes and the GND. ______________________________________________________________________________________ CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: The information contained in this document is intended for the exclusive use by DENON Authorized Service Centers and their employees. (3) After you have connected all the connectors on the Loading Mechanism and the 1U-3692 P. W. Board, remove the short-circuit solder bridge protecting the Pick-up.
