You agree that you will not attempt to reverse compile, modify, translate, or disassemble the SOFTWARE in whole or in part. UNAUTHORIZED USE. You may not use, copy, rent, lease, sell, modify, decompile, disassemble, otherwise reverse engineer, or transfer the SOFTWARE except as provided in this agreement. Any such unauthorized use shall result in immediate and automatic termination of this license. BUNDLING. In no case may this product be bundled with hardware or other non-shareware software without written permission from ELCOMSOFT. All distribution of SOFTWARE is further restricted with regard to sources which also distribute virus source code and related virus construction/creation materials. The SOFTWARE may not be made available on any site, CD-ROM, or with any package which makes available or contains viruses, virus source code, virus construction programs, or virus creation material. Permission to distribute the SOFTWARE is not transferable, assignable, saleable, or franchisable. Advanced eBook Processor: README ================================ Contents -------- Introduction Requirements Known bugs and limitations Technical support Registration Copyright and license Where to get the latest version Introduction ------------ Advanced eBook Processor, or simply AEBPR, is a program to decrypt eBooks in Acrobat eBook Reader format (PDF files with EBX security handler), as well as Adobe Acrobat PDF files protected using standard security method, WebBuy technology, or any other Acrobat security plug-in (like FileOpen, SoftLock etc) by converting them into plain PDF files -- without any protection and restrictions. Decrypted file can be opened in any PDF viewer (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader) with edit, copy, print, annotate functions enabled. All versions of Adobe Acrobat are supported. Can also decrypt eBook Pro (*.EBK) files, extracting all html pages and images from them. Please note that unauthorised distribution of copyrighted materials is strictly prohibited. Please consult the license on PDF file or eBook you've purchased before processing it with AEBPR. Requirements ------------ - Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or Windows XP - about 600 kilobytes of hard disk space - Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader to decrypt PDF files protected with security plug-ins other than FileOpen and BPTE_rot13 - Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader to decrypt Acrobat eBooks Known bugs and limitations -------------------------- The program can process files encrypted with all security handlers: standard; EBX (Acrobat eBook Reader); WebBuy; FileOpen, SoftLock, BPTE_rot13, SASS_INTERNET_STDS (Australian Standards Online) etc. For standard security handler, however, the "user" password should be either empty (i.e. you can open the file, but some restrictions are set) or known. If PDF file has ony other security handler than standard, FileOpen, or BPTE_rot13, it can be decrypted (converted into the "plain" PDF only if you have a valid license to open/view it. For example, for WebBuy document it is an RMF file; for Acrobat eBook -- appropriate "voucher"; for "Australian Standards Online" document -- plug-in and a password file etc. For example, the program will not break Acrobat eBook purchased from another computer etc. If PDF file is protected with security handler other than standard, EBX, WebBuy, FileOpen or BPTE_rot13, AEBPR gets the decryption key (needed to convert the file into a "plain" PDF) directly from Adobe Acrobat Reader, i.e. just run it, send the command to open the given file, catch the key, close the Reader and process the file. There is no other way to get the key in case of unknown ("generic") plug-in is being used. Please note that to use that feature, you have to have Adobe Acrobat (or Adobe Acrobat Reader) version 4.05 or later. It doesn't matter what version of Acrobat the document has been created with, though. The only requirement is:
