Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component. Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver. Step 1. Protect the screen with a film or similar. Step 2. Remove the battery cover. Step 3. To remove the battery from its housing, release the clip shown as (1) below and slide the battery in the direction shown as (2). 10/13/2008 Page 1 of 14 Step 4. To remove the front fascia, first release the clip at the top of the phone using a thin plastic shim. Step 5. Open the flip to a 90° angle. Step 6. Now release the top left retaining clip. 10/13/2008 Page 2 of 14 Step 7. Release the top right retaining clip. Step 8. Lift the top of the fascia and release the next locking clip as shown below. Lift the top of the fascia in the direction shown as (1), and then slide it in the direction (2) to remove the fascia from the phone. Step 12. Press down on the function keys to release them. 10/13/2008 Page 4 of 14 Step 13. Remove the joystick button. Step 14. The bottom of the keymat is usually glued to the key dome, so you'll need to use your plastic shim to release it taking care not to damage the key dome or LED's underneath. Step 15. Remove the six Torx T6 screws in the order shown below. 10/13/2008 Page 5 of 14 Step 16. Pull the flip to release the phone from the rear fascia. Step 17. Release the co-axial connector taking care not to bend it. Step 18. Now the modules can be separated. 10/13/2008 Page 6 of 14 Step 19. Protect the screen. Step 20. Insert your plastic shim between the keypad frame and the main body of the flip. Step 21. Move the shim around the edge of the key frame. 10/13/2008 Page 7 of 14 Step 22. Use your fingers to lever the frame and release the rest of the retaining clips - bear in mind that you are supposed to use a new frame when reassembling the handset! Step 23. You should now be able to remove the key mat frame. Step 24. Remove the key mat from the flip. 10/13/2008 Page 8 of 14 Step 25. Two clips hold the T9 key mat in place - use your plastic shim to release them. Step 26. With the clips released the key pad can be removed. Step 27. Remove the co-axial connector taking care not to bend it. 10/13/2008 Page 9 of 14 Step 28. Push out the key pad assembly from the back of the flip. Step 29. Remove the charging port using a charger jack (ensuring the charger is unplugged). Step 30. Lever the microphone out with a
