There is a possibility that the issue may be due to a problem with the LCD panel, causing the Cause: set to shut down into a protective mode. Remedy / This Service Hint applies to serial numbers prior to: N*-444**** Method: If, after following the troubleshooting information given in the Service Manual to exclude other possible causes, it is determine the panel is faulty, order and replace the LCD panel. Troubleshooting hints/tips: 1. The customer reports that the set has randomly "no operation, and the red LED is blinking". 2. The TV works normally, however there is a record of protection mode SOS1 in the service menu. (See Fig. 1 for an example) 3. The TV is in protection mode with SOS 1 flash. For test purposes only, to confirm if the symptom is caused by a problem with the panel it is possible to disable this particular protection mode: i. Solder a temporary link between pin 2 and pin 3 of Q7716 on the LD-PCB (see Fig. 2). ii. Power on the set and, using a white test pattern, a dark horizontal stripe will be seen (See Fig. 3 for an example of the phenomenon) Note: Remember to remove the temporary link *before* continuing with the repair.
