General Description
The LFH 9750 has been designed to offer optimum user convenience and greater efficiency for the daily work. This model is a state-of-the-art digital Dictation/Transcription System for the professional user. Digital transcription allows instant and precise access to any point in the dictation sound file. During dictation user-defined information (Keywords) can be stored with the sound file.

Exchangeable Multimedia/SD (Secure Digital) Card for simple, efficient data transfer, and flexibility when on the move. DSS file format: This industry standard file format for digital recording devices offers minimum file sizes whilst maintaining crystal clear sound quality. Voice-Activated Recording for hands-free dictation. Insert, overwrite and delete/partial delete functions allow full editing capability and continuity of dictation. Backlit LC-Display makes reading the display in poor lighting conditions easier. Two Display settings (standard/advanced) allowing selection which information should be displayed on the screen (numeric or graphical). Adjustable Microphone Sensitivity (3 steps) for conference or close range recordings. Easy, automatic download of dictations (upload of sound files) to your PC via USB connection. USB mass storage device: The Multimedia Card can be used to store data as well as voice recordings. Volume, Tone and Speed controls. Automatic backspace function. Microphone and Headphone sockets. Conference Microphone socket. LC-Display shows creation time/date, size of the dictation file and operating mode. Warning tone signals low/full memory to avoid dictation loss. Test mode
Switch on the unit by connecting the power supply. To start the Test mode press DOWNLOAD and DELETE buttons and JOG Dial simultaneously. First all pixels on the LCD are switched on for a short time. Simultaneously the Warning tone is audible in the speaker (one peep).

(e.g. Firmware version 01.03) (Model number) (MAC Address, which is also the Serial number) (History, for factory use only)
After pressing any key all switches (including foot switch), the Jog Dial, the SPEED control, the ABS switch, the buttons on Microphones LFH 0276/10 or LFH 0278/10, the CONF MIC socket, the warning tone and the Display Lighting can be checked according the information given on LCD.

To exit the Test mode disconnect the unit from mains (disconnect power supply).

Firmware Upgrade
Download the Firmware Upgrade tool with the last version of the relevant Firmware (e.g. for Firmware version 01.03) and the file (information about how to upgrade the Firmware of the DPM2 family) from http://www.speech.philips.com/service/ to a dedicated directory on your PC.
To upgrade the Firmware on LFH 9750: It is strongly advised to follow the correct sequence given below ! 1. Push the Trigger Firmware Upgrade switch on the rear of the machine (through the hole marked with P) by using a small pin whilst simultaneously plugging in the power supply. To confirm the Upgrade mode the Display is now switched off. 2. Start the file.
3. Connect the LFH 9750 to the PC by using the USB download cable. Click "OK"
Simultaneously with above message the LCD on LFH 9750 displays: "Update please wait", followed by "Unplug USB cable" to confirm the correct upgrade procedure. Click "OK" 4. Disconnect the USB cable. After starting the Test mode by pressing DOWNLOAD and DELETE buttons and JOG Dial simultaneously the Display indicates the loaded Firmware version, e.g. VER: 01.03

MAC Address
After replacement of the DSP-Print (PCB2) the original MAC address of the unit, which is equal with the Serial number of the machine, has to be set. Download the MAC Address programming tool , the file and the file from http://www.speech.philips.com/service/ to a dedicated directory on your PC.
To set the MAC Address (after replacement of PCB2): It is strongly advised to follow the correct sequence given below ! 1. Push the Trigger Firmware Upgrade switch on the rear of the machine (through the hole marked with P) by using a small pin whilst simultaneously plugging in the power supply. To confirm the Upgrade mode the Display is now switched off. 2. Start the file.
3. Connect the LFH 9750 to the PC by using the USB download cable. Set the PCB to EU (International) or US version (12 hours PM/AM or 24 hours clock). Type in the Serial number of the machine mentioned on the type level on the bottom plate. Click "OK"

USB (connector) test
The communication between the LFH 9750 and the PC is tested during any Firmware Upgrade process by connecting the LFH 9750 to the PC.
Firmware fault codes
A number of faults are recognized by the firmware and a fault code is displayed on the LCD. Example:
If above information appears on the LCD please notify the mentioned fault code (e.g. fault code 200) and report it to your Cluster Service Manager for further investigations.
Record/Play back test
Insert a Memory Card. Create a record via the connected microphone (LFH 0276/10 or LFH 0278/10) and a conference microphone LFH 0172 (test of the conference microphone socket) as well. Play back the recorded sound file via the built-in loud speaker and a headphone (test of the headphone socket) as well.
