SUBJECT: PURITY PROBLEM Background: When the AQ17LS is first powered up, a purity problem may appear as shown below. Applying the manual degauss function can clear up the problem.

Cause:

The AQ17LS has a hot plug function. The function is provided by D202. If the monitor is turned on while the PC is in power saving mode (DPMS) the monitor will not degauss due to the hot plug function. This results in a purity symptom. The hot plug enables some PCs to supply +5V, forcing the micom to recognize DPMS recovery. This problem can be caused with some PCs if the monitor is powered up 4-5 seconds after the PC has been powered up. If the user then applies manual degauss or powers down and powers up the monitor again, the purity symptom will disappear. Remove diode D202. If the diode is removed, the monitor will degauss on power up even if the PC is in DPMS.
