SUBJECT: Microprocessor Alignment Jigs
BACKGROUND: Many Samsung monitors use proprietary alignment jigs and software in order to align geometry and color. This bulletin will describe the differences between the alignment jigs. SOLUTION: There currently are three alignment kits that are available to perform factory preset adjustments to F, M, and G Series color monitors. Listed below are the alignment kits and accessories for each model.

F-Series/M-Series Color Monitors The KIT MC-250 aligns geometric on F Series color monitors. The MC-250 aligns color as well as geometric on M Series color monitors. The MC-250 utilizes three different data interface cables for the models that it supports. 1) The cable shown below is dedicated for the 17", 20", and 21" F and M Series color monitors.
2) The cable shown below is dedicated for the 14" and 15" F-Series color monitors. In order to make a distinction, the length of the cable is 38". The numbers 1, 2, and 3 shown in the illustration below indicate the corresponding connecting pins.
3) The cable shown below is dedicated for the 15" M-Series color monitors. In order to make a distinction, the length of the cable is 28". The numbers 1, 2, and 3 shown in the illustration below indicate the corresponding connecting pins.
Error Codes - If an ERROR 1 code is displayed in the MC-250 LCD readout after attempting to align or save data, check the following items pertaining to the micom jig. 1) Check the M-Project and F-Project crystal project selection switch located on the top of the MC-250 for the proper setting. 2) Check to see if the correct project monitor is shown in the LCD display. 3) Check the data cable connections. 4) Check to see if the correct MC-250 model selection is shown in the LCD display. 5) Check to see if the correct data cable is being used. CFX1577L - Omitted from the MC-250 user's guide is the 21" F Series color monitor. This model can be aligned by selecting SAMSUNG 21" from the model select list in the MC-250.
G-Series Color Monitors The 15" and 17" G-Series color monitors utilize an alignment kit named Softjig. The Softjig includes a DOS based alignment program on a 3½" diskette, parallel cable, interface board, signal cable with a spliced-in 3 pin harness cable, and an AC adapter. The Softjig requires the use of a PC and mouse. Softjig performs both color and geometric adjustments. When using the Softjig refer to the service manual for the particular monitor that needs alignment. The 21" G-Series SyncMaster 1000p (CGX1609T) color monitor utilizes it's own softjig alignment kit. The kit includes a 3½" diskette holding the alignment program and a 9 pin serial to 3 pin stereo audio type connector. This kit also requires the use of a PC and mouse. Data can be transferred from either PC serial port whether it's the 9 pin or 25 pin. A 9 to 25 pin serial adapter is not supplied. This may be purchased from any computer store.
