INTRODUCTION
1.1 Supported standards
AT command interface of Benefon's cellular phones is partial implementation of V.25ter, GSM 07.05 and 07.07 command sets supplemented with proprietary AT commands of Benefon. The V.25ter, GSM 07.05 and 07.07 commands that are supported are listed in chapters 2, 3 and 4 respectively. For detailed description of each command refer to the appropriate ETSI specifications that can be downloaded from http://www.etsi.org/download/ for free of charge. Note that optional elements may not be supported.

1.2 Serial communication configuration
As default the AT command interface uses the following port settings: Bits per second: Data bits: Parity: Stop bits: Flow control: 19200 8 None 1 Hardware

1.3 Character set
The AT command interface uses 8-bit characters coded using GSM character set. The character set is defined in GSM specifications (GSM 03.38). The GSM character set is 7-bit, so the most significant bit of each byte is set to zero. However, there are few exceptions. These exceptions concern only characters of a character string parameter. For example in the following command: at+cpbw=170,"+35880017000",,"Sonera" The parameters "+35880017000" and "Sonera" are character string parameters. In these parameters the characters with a decimal value of 31 or less, and characters Ö and ", have to be presented using special hex string notation. The hex string is formed by presenting the hexadecimal value of the character as backslash (ASCII, 92 decmal) preceded character sequence. For example é has value 5 in GSM character set, and should be presented as \05 (decimal 92, 48, 53). Character @ makes an additional exception; it has value 0 in GSM character set and 128 decimal should be added to this value before using the hex presentation. For example parameter string "AB@å"ÖC" should be given as "AB\80\0F\22\5CC" (where `\' is 92 decimal). The phone is not obligated to use the hex presentation in the responses. When reading responses from the phone, the character string parameters may contain, in addition to characters with decimal value from 32 to 127, characters with decimal value of 31 or

less, characters presented using the hex string notation, and characters with decimal value greater than 127. If a character has decimal value of 128 or greater, 128 should be substracted from the decimal value of the charater to return the character to GSM character set. The phone is obligated to send characters Ö (92) and " (34) in a parameter string always using the hex string notation, because character 92 is reserved for hex string delimiter and 34 for character string parameter delimiter.

1.4 Escape sequence
For escape sequence Time Independent Escape Sequence (TIES) is used. Escape from online data state to online command state occurs when following sequence in the incoming data is detected: ! ! Three escape characters ("+++") followed by "AT" Carriage return (CR) within 0,5 seconds

1.5 SMS AT command annotations
Before starting to send Short Messages using the AT command infterface, the Service Center number has to be set up for the AT command interface with the +CSCA command specified in GSM 07.05. For example: AT+CSCA="+358405202000" It is recommended to use the "PDU" mode defined in GSM 07.05 instead of the "text" mode. The AT command interface does not support concatenated short messages.
