Subject: Symptoms requiring MO focus bias adjustment Date: December 27, 1994

Symptom:

On a recordable disc one or more of the following problems may occur:
1.) Recording is not possible.
2.) Sound will skip during Playback.
3.) "DISC ERROR" appears in the display
4.) "RETRY ERROR" appears in the display
5.) A disc cannot be ejected
6.) TOC information cannot be read.
7.) The unit will stop during playback.

Solution:

Re-adjust the MO FOCUS BIAS as outlined in the MDS-501 Supplement-1 Service
Manual (P/N 9-959-262-82).
