Subject: Firmware-Special ROM For Lamp Timer Reset Date: January 28, 2000
Symptom:
(177X) The projector will not operate if the Status is set to OFF, and the following message
appears: Please replace the Lamp. Possible damage with continued use! Even if the
lamp is replaced, the lamp TIMER RESET command will be invalid, and power on
may fail.
Solution: A special ROM is now available to reset the lamp timer regardless of the STATUS
ON/OFF state.
The lamp timer is reset to 0h. (The value is not copied into the previous lamp
timer.) To use this special ROM, perform the following procedure.

Procedure -Using The Special ROM:
1. Turn OFF the main power switch.
2. Remove the Main ROM (IC5205) from its socket, and insert the special
ROM into socket.
CAUTION:
Programmable devices are easily damaged by static electricity. Make sure the equipment is
powered OFF and you are grounded to the unit with a cable that contains a 1 Meg Ohm
resistor between you and ground when installing programmable devices. Work with caution
when grounded to the unit.
3. Turn ON the Main power switch.
4. Leave the projector in STANDBY mode for at least 10 seconds.
5. Turn OFF the Main power switch.
6. Remove the special ROM, and install the main ROM back into its socket.
7. Turn ON the Main power switch.
Note: Power ON will fail if the special ROM is left in the Main ROM socket.
