Subject: AKB Error When First Turned ON Date: August 1, 2001
Symptom:
(2311) When the unit is first turned on from cold start the LED flashes 5 times at first power-
ON, and no picture is received. If turned OFF and then ON again picture is present.
Unit will play the rest of the day without any problem.
Solution: If the customer should complain of the symptom above please perform the following
circuit changes to the BD Board.
Note 1: Some BD boards had countermeasures applied at the factory. These
boards do not need to be reworked in the field. See illustrations 1 through 3 for
identifying the boards that have had countermeasures applied at the factory.
Carefully peel up the coper tape
on the side edge of the board. Lift up the shield from the board, using the
long copper tape as a hinge.

Factory-reworked boards have a 10K chip
resistor mounted near R1924; no further
rework is necessary.
