Subject: Reducing A-board Breakage During Handling Date: August 11, 2000
Of The TV.
Symptom:
(****) The A-board may be damaged during improper handling of the set. "Improper
handling" may include carrying the set on a handtruck with the handtruck's tongue
causing the cabinet bottom to flex in the center. Another example is resting one side
of the set on one corner of a TV stand while attempting to place the set in its final
position.
Solution: Install circuit board mounting rail extenders that improve the A-board's reliability
during handling of the TV.

*Premier's Plastic Pipe Cement for PVC pipe and low-pressure sprinklers is one example of
this type of glue.
The following references to "left-side" and "right-side" mean as the set is
viewed from the front.
Procedure:
1- Remove rear cabinet.
2- Remove A-board.
3- Identify the left-side and right-side rail extenders (see illustration # 2).
4- Dry-fit the rail extenders (without glue) to the cabinet's rails to get an idea as to how they are
supposed to fit together (see illustrations 3 and 4).
5- Apply the glue to the portion of the cabinet's left-side rail that will make contact with the rail extender.
Also apply glue to the mating surfaces of the rail extender. Be liberal with the glue, but don't overdue it!
6- Fit the left-side rail extender to the cabinet's rail, and hold it in place for 30 seconds or so.
7- Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the right-side rail and extender.

8- Re-install the A-board after 10 minutes.
9- Re-install rear cabinet.
10- Check set for correct operation.
