Service Bulletin
No. : OST-690R
Date: March 9, 2007
_____________________________________________________________
Model: DVD-9000, DVD-3800
Subject: 1) Change in the Optical Pick-up (to HOP-1200R from HOP-1000)
2) The countermeasure for the malfunction upon playing back particular discs.
Symptom: Regarding the Optical Pick-up HOP-1000 currently used for the
subject models, it has changed to a new Optical Pick-up HOP-1200 due to
discontinuation of the original part. At the same time, in accordance with the
change in Optical Pick-up, the countermeasure for stopping picture upon playing
back the following particular discs is applied to the unit.
Note:
1) Please note that when installing the new Pick-up upon maintenance service,
additional modifications (changes in resistors and capacitor on the Main P. W.
Board) are necessary.
2) For the replacement of the Optical Pick-up except for the countermeasure of
the following particular discs, the old type Pick-up in stock of our Part's Center is
usable.
Discs to which the malfunction phenomenon has been confirmed are as follows:
(1) Premonition of Sweethearts,
(2) ROCKY 2,
(3) ROCKY Special Version. Occasionally, the picture stops at the 2nd layer
upon playing back.
Solution: Change the Pick-up from HOP-1000 to the new HOP-1200R.
Please apply the following modification to the unit that was returned and
refurbished at your place. (FT model). Also, apply the modification when the
customer's unit is brought into your service bench due to some other reasons, or
upon claim.
