Subject: Correction of the Firmware.
This countermeasure is applicable only upon claim from the customer.
Symptom: 1) In Manual Setup/Network Setup/Network the information is
displayed incorrectly. The columns do not match up.
2) The customer has only 6.1 speakers, not 7.1 speakers and he hooked up 6.1
speakers. In this case, auto setup can start but not complete.
3) Can't perform direct access to XM stations with the TFXMnnn command.
4) Screen Goes Blank After Displaying OSD.
5) No response for AMX commands of PSBAS, PSTRE or PSxxx commands as
reported from the field through Ethernet port.
Solution: The firmware has been corrected so that no malfunction occurs.
MODIFICATION: Denon new networking feature with DPMS (Denon Product
Management Server) allows us to provide advanced service to the customers
and create new business opportunities through our new specific A/V products.
Flow of update of the new firmware.
1) The customers notice that A/V product has a software problem.
2) The customers calls the service distributor.
3) The Service distributors check the firmware availability.
4) If the customers have internet environment, the customers can update their
A/V product via DPMS (Denon Product Management Server) at any time by
Instruction Manual. Please instruct the "Preparation of the update" to the
customers.
5) If the customers do not have access to the internet environment or if the
customers do not have the ability or knowledge to perform the update, the

customers should send the product to a service center as usual. The service
center will update the firmware using the scheme outlined.
METHOD OF UPDATE via DPMS (Denon Product Management Server)
1. Preparation of the update.
We didn't show this preparation Instruction on Instruction Manual. Please explain
the additional information to the customers when updating the firmware.
Caution: It is necessary to initialize the unit before the update work begins. The
customer has to initialize their A/V product. Please update the firmware after you
confirm this matter with the customer beforehand.
Turn the "Main Power switch" of unit off.
1) Open the door on the front panel.
2) While holding the "" and "" buttons (SYSTEM CONTROL) down
simultaneously, turn the "Power switch" on.
3) The FL Display indicates all digits at interval a second.
4) Turn off the "Power switch" of the unit.
Updating the firmware (Refer to the Instruction Manual.)
1) Turn the Power Supply of the unit off.
2) Connect the Ethernet terminal of the unit to the Network line by Ethernet
straight cable. Do not use an Ethernet cross cable or WiFi (wireless).
3) Turn the Power Supply of the unit on.
4) Press "MENU" button on the front panel and indicates the GUI menu.
5) Press "CURSOR" button.
The unit sets the Internet. It wishes waiting for about two minutes until customer's
router ends the setting.
Caution: The update doesn't succeed when the customer's unit cannot hook up
to the Internet correctly. In this case, please confirm the internet is available in
the customer's house. Whether it is able to receive the Internet radio correctly or
not depends on whether the Internet can be properly connected. There are some
problems under the internet environment when the Internet radio cannot be
received.

6) The GUI indicates, "MANUAL SETUP" > "OPTION SETUP" > "Firmware
Update".
Caution: The update interrupts when it is not possible to connect correctly to the
Internet. In this case, please repeat from step1) again.

7) Select the "Start" on GUI.
8) Press the "ENTER" button.
9) The firmware will start updating.
Caution: When the firmware update starts correctly, the GUI, audio signal, etc.
stops, and the unit processes the update operation only.
10) During the updating, the FL Display indicates the procedure of update the
firmware.
11) The GUI display disappears, and becomes only FL display.
12) During the updating, the FL Display indicates the procedure of update the
firmware.
13) Time necessary for update: approximately 35 min.
Caution: The update time might change depending on the situation of the DPMS
server and the speed of the Internet connection at the customer's house.

11) After upgrading, the FL Display indicates below.
12) Turn off the "Power switch" of the unit.

Note:
1) When the unit has already updated the latest firmware, the FL Display
indicates following indication.
2) If the display reads as shown below, check the settings and network
connection, then update again. The problem is not in the Internet connection if
the Internet radio can be received correctly

Caution during the updating operation:
1) Please do not turn the Power off during the updating operation.
2) If the Display does not change during the updating operation, wait longer than
total updating time (35 min.). Then, turn the Power of the unit off and start the
updating operation from the beginning again.
Caution: The unit should not break down while updating if the power supply of
the unit is turned off or the Internet cable is disconnected. Cycle the power
supply ON/OFF if the unit becomes unstable. Please execute initialization (reset)
if it is not improved. If it does not recover after these steps please repair by
service.
Confirming the firmware's version after upgrade:
After completion of the update operation, the new version number can be
confirmed by starting up the A/V Receiver according to the following procedure.
With the following operation, the A/V Receiver can be set to the Flash-ROM
Version-Number Confirmation Mode.
Turn the power of the A/V Receiver on, while holding both "STATUS" button and
"RETURN" button on the front panel simultaneously.
Every time the "STATUS" Button is pressed, version numbers of the MAIN,
SUB, etc. are indicated on the front panel section in the following order.
Serial Number Range:
We will apply the above modification to the production models beginning from the
following serial numbers. (Last 5-digits)
