Model: DVD-5900
Subject: Countermeasure for the malfunction upon playing back particular
discs.
Symptom: Occasionally the unit indicates "NO DISC" only when loading the
following type number CDDA manufactured by Shefield.
1) MDMS System Conditioning Disc (Part Number: SHEFIELD LAB SCD-081-
0094 G1 960420)
2) XLD test and burn in (SHEFIELD LAB 10041-2 SCD-081-0016 942704 SRC
01)
Solution: Please apply the following modification to your customer's unit only
when the malfunction due to the above disc(s) was reported. (This excludes units
to be refurbished (FT) or repaired due to other reasons.)
Modification Procedure:
(1) Removing the MECHA Unit
(2) Removing the MAIN P. W. B.
(3) Replacement of the resistor
(4) Installing the MAIN P. W. B.
(5) Installing the MECHA Unit
(6) Confirming the actual operation.
(1) Remove the MECHA Unit from the unit. (Refer to the Service Manual, pages
4 ~ 5.)
(2) Remove the MAIN P. W. Board (GU-3512) from the MECHA Unit. (Refer to
the Service Manual page 10.)
