Subject: Replacement of the Optical Pick-up. (From HOP-1200R to HOP-
1200 RN or S)
Symptom: The following is the replacement procedure for the Optical Pick-up.
Use the new pickup since the production of the Optical Pick-up HOP-1200R that
is currently used for the subject models will be discontinued.
Solution: The Optical Pick-up HOP-1200RN is compatible with the HOP-
1200S. Therefore, the replacement procedure to replace the HOP-1200R with
HOP-1200RN or HOP-1200S is the same.
Note: The Optical Pick-up HOP-1200WB is not usable on the subject models.
Therefore, please be sure to use the HOP-1200RN or HOP-1200S upon
replacement of the Pick-up.
1) Work flow:
(1) Removing the DRV Mecha Unit. > (2) Replacement of the DRV ROM and
Traverse Unit. > (3) Mounting the DVD Mecha Unit. > (4) Confirmation of the
actual operation.
2) Detailed procedure:
(1) Removing the DVD Mecha Unit: Remove the DVD Mecha Unit from the main
Unit according to the Service Manual (X-0062, pages 3 and 4).
