NOT CHARGING
The plastic C-cover of the phone is equipped with a "time dial" which
indicates manufacturing month of the C-cover, see picture below. During
manufacturing month 5 and 6 (May and June) the arrow in the time dial have
the possibility to hit the varistor R103, and therefore the varistor R103 may
break off or crack due the pressure from the arrow.
When testing above cases, please note:
- If the phone is charged using ACP-7 charger, phone's display shows
"Charging" (Phone battery is NOT charged)
- If the phone is charged using ACP-8 or ACP-9, phone's display shows
"Not charging" (Recommended chargers used to test above cases)
R103 is protecting the PSCC N101 (Charging control) circuit against voltage
spikes from the AC supply network entering the phone via the charger.
When R103 is defective and the phone suffers from the 'Not charging'
symptom N101 is probably also defective.
Procedure:
1. Replace C-cover or cut away the arrow in the time dial e.g. using a
scalpel
2. Replace R103
3. Replace N101
