Subject: Banding Symptom With Progressive Scan input on Video 5 Symptom: (133X) Cause
Date: March 7, 2001
During certain scenes of certain DVD movies titles with progressive scan DVD players. A slight horizontal banding maybe noticed on the following edge of a moving image. Sandcastle "clamp" pulse overlaps video signal causing clamping errors.
Three thin horizontal lines and one thick one at the bottom before the lower part of the black bar of the letterboxed imaged. This scene occurs during the first second or two of chapter 6 of Star Trek 2.
Solution:
If the customer should complain of this symptom please incorporate the following Service Data change. 1. 2. Change in the Service Mode PWM1 from 0 to 42. Confirm Flash Focus operation in the Service Mode.
