6. Technical FAQ
1. Question 1: What is GPS?
Answer 1: The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.
2. Question 2: Do we have to pay for GPS?
Answer 2: AVIC-S1 GPS just receives the signals, not includes sending signals, so it is free.
3. Question 3: Why the GPS can not determine the position?
Answer 3: A GPS receiver must be locked on to the signal of at least three satellites to calculate a 2D position (latitude and longitude) and track movement. Some reasons cause the signals can not be received. In the city, the tall building affect the quality of received signals. In the tunnel, under the viaduct and indoors will affect the quality of received signals. If you take the GPS receiver in the car, some kinds of heat-insulation films will affect the quality of received signals.
4. Question 4: What is the difference of determining the position in the city, suburb and freeway?
Answer 4: In the city, the high building and viaducts affect the quality of signals, totally the city is worse, the suburb is butter, the freeway is the best.

6. Question 6: How long is the standby time on the battery?
Answer 6: The battery of AVIC-S1 is adopted Un-swappable rechargeable Lithium battery 1200 mAh. So the system can continue 4 hours with backlight on GPS function, can continue 21 days with suspension when main battery is fully charged.
7. Question 8: Must PC side setup USB drive to find AVIC-S1?
Answer 7: Yes, PC side must setup USB drive, otherwise, it can not find the AVIC-S1.
