GENERAL PRECAUTIONS REGARDING THE INSTALLATION AND SERVICE FOR THE COPIER 4560/4570
The installation and service should be done by a qualified service technician. 1. Transportation/Installation · When transporting/installing the copier, use two persons and be sure to use the positions as indicated below. The copier is fairly heavy and weighs approximately 95 kg (210 lb), therefore pay full attention when handling it.

2. Installation · Be sure to use a dedicated outlet with AC 115V/15A (220V, 230V, 240V/10A) or more for its power source. · The copier must be grounded for safety. Never ground it to a gas pipe or a water pipe. · Select a suitable place for installation. Avoid excessive heat, high humidity, dust, vibration and direct sunlight. · Also provide proper ventilation as the copier emits a slight amount of ozone. · To insure adequate working space for the copying operation, keep a minimum clearance of 80 cm (32") on the left, 80 cm (32") on the right and 10 cm (4") in the rear. · After having installed the copier, be sure to push the carrying handles into the copier and fasten them with screws. 3. Service of Machines · Basically, be sure to turn the main switch off and unplug the power cord during service. · Be sure not to touch high-temperature sections such as the exposure lamp, the fuser unit, the damp heater and their periphery. · Be sure not to touch high-voltage sections such as the chargers and the high-voltage transformer. · Be sure not to touch rotating/operating sections such as gears, belts, pulleys, fans, etc. · When servicing the machines with the main switch turned on, be sure not to touch live sections such as the lamp terminal, etc. and rotating/operating sections. · Use suitable measuring instruments and tools.

4. Main Service Parts for Safety · The breaker, door switch, fuse, thermostat, thermofuse, thermistor, etc. are particularly important for safety. Be sure to handle/install them properly. 5. Cautionary Labels · During servicing be sure to check the rating plate and the cautionary labels such as "Unplug the power cord during service", "Hot area" etc. to see if there is any dirt on their surface or whether they are properly stuck to the copier. 6. Disposition of Consumable Parts/Packing Materials · Regarding the recovery and disposal of the copier, supplies, consumable parts and packing materials, it is recommended to follow the relevant local regulations or rules. 7. When parts are disassembled, reassembly is basically the reverse of disassembly unless otherwise noted in this manual or other related documents. Be careful not to reassemble small parts such as screws, washers, pins, E-rings, toothed washers in the wrong places. 8. Basically, the machine should not be operated with any parts removed or disassembled. 9. Precautions Against Static Electricity · The PC board must be stored in an anti-electrostatic bag and handled carefully using a wristband, because the ICs on it may become damaged due to static electricity. Caution: Before using the wrist band, pull out the power cord plug of the copier and make sure that there is no uninsulated charged objects in the vicinity.

When the copier is in the adjustment mode which you entered by turning on the power switch while pressing keys "0" and "5" simultaneously, pressing keys "0" and "9" simultaneously will make the copier exit into the standby mode. Only in this standby mode, can you access the adjustment mode repeatedly by simply entering "0" and "5".

While all the displays on the control panel are lit ("01" mode), copying is not possible. When the copier is made to enter the standby status by pressing the CLEAR/STOP key, copying is enabled.

Auto-Toner Sensor Adjustment

When the developer material is replaced, the auto-toner sensor needs to be adjusted.
Notes:1. If the high voltage (main/transfer/separation charger) output adjustment is combined, high voltage adjustment should be performed first before the developer material is loaded into the developer unit. 2. Make sure that the drum blade is pressed to the drum before the auto-toner adjustment.

Check/adjustment of main, transfer, separation charger and developer bias outputs

When the high-voltage transformer is replaced, etc., the checking/adjusting of the main, transfer and separation charger and developer bias outputs is necessary. These outputs can be checked/adjusted in the same way. Code to be used in the test mode "05": "38": Main charger "39": Transfer charger "40": Separation charger "43": Developer bias (The output check uses code "38")
Notes: 1. Clear the drum counter (mode "08", code "76") to "0" when the drum is replaced with a new one. 2. When carrying out adjustments of the main, transfer and separation charger output, refer to the points below. · Adjustment codes "39" and "40" are not used if developer material is inside (Error code "C35"). · Adjustment codes "39" and "40" are used to perform detection of the remaining developer material for 15 sec. (adjustment is impossible during this period). · The input value can be adjusted after the remaining developer detection is finished. · If detection has already been performed once, detection of the remaining developer material cannot be performed unless disconnection and connection of the developer unit connector are done. 3. Use a digital tester with an input impedance of 10M or over.

[A] Focus and horizontal reproduction ratio adjustment for 100% (1) Make an actual size-copy and check the focus and horizontal reproduction ratio. If adjustment is necessary, the adjustment data must be re-entered as follows. · Poor focus and reduced horizontal reproduction ratio: reduce the mirror position data (code 61). · Poor focus and enlarged horizonal reproduction ratio: increase the mirror position data (code 61). · Good focus, but reduced horizontal reproduction ratio: increase the lens position data (code 60). · Good focus, but enlarged horizontal reproduction ratio: decrease the lens position data (code 60).
Notes:

1.

The focus and horizontal reproduction ratio change when the lens or the mirror is moved. But the lens position data mainly change the horizontal reproduction ratio and the mirror position data mainly change the focus.

The horizontal reproduction ratio should be adjusted after adjusting the focus, then check the focus again. If the horizontal reproduction ratio is incorrect (within ±0.5%), it will not be possible to achieve good focusing. Because of the lens characteristics, there is a greater margin for focusing at the center of the image than at the corners. For 200% and 50%, the horizontal reproduction ratio (lens position) will automatically assume the optimum condition when the focus (mirror position) is adjusted. So, horizontal reproduction ratio adjustment is not normally necessary.

[B] Focus and horizontal reproduction ratio adjustment for 200% (1) (2) Make a 200% copy and check the focus and horizontal reproduction ratio. If the focus and horizontal reproduction ratio are poor, re-enter the data of code 63 to adjust them. Adjustment of code 62 is usually unnecessary. [C] Focus and horizontal reproduction ratio adjustment for 50% (1) (2) Make a 50% copy and check the focus and horizontal reproduction ratio. If the focus and horizontal reproduction are poor, re-enter the data of code 65 to adjust them. Adjustment of code 64 is usually unnecessary.

Optical axis adjustment

When the focus is incorrect at the front or rear side, adjust the focus by moving the mirror unit as follows: (Use the code "61" in the test mode "05") (1) Turn ON the power while pressing the "0" and "5" keys simultaneously. The display "TEST MODE 100% AJ" will come on.

When the exposure is different at the front and rear sides, adjust the light distribution by moving the distribution plate as follows:

This model uses a hit-drum method using the guide roller, and no adjustment is necessary.

1.11 Adjustment of Developer Polarity Position
(1) (2) Remove the developer unit from the machine. Adjust at rear adjustment plate. Loosen the fixing screw of the adjustment plate and move the plate according to the stamped mark on the plate as a guide line to make adjustment. As this is already adjusted with a special jig at the time of shipping from the factory, do not loosen the screw unnecessarily. When loosening the screw for disassembly, etc., remember the position of the adjustment plate and reinstall it where it was. (During the replacement of the magnetic roller, adjust the developer to the developer polarity position.)

1.12 Doctor Sleeve Gap Adjustment
Tools required: Doctor sleeve jig Method (1) Remove the developer unit from the machine, take out the upper cover (2 screws), and discharge the developer material. (2) (3) Place the developer unit on a flat surface. Turn the leveler adjustment screws and adjust it using the step "0.45" into the gap between the sleeve and leveler.
