Check the power source and initial state.
Is electrity of 5V and 12V normally input after the connecting the power cable ? Y Do Y302 oscillate ? Y Dose the voltage of the 158pin of IC304 (initial power on) change from 5V to 0V ? Y Dose the voltage of the 58pin of IC304 change from 0V-5V-0V ? Y Is electricity of 3.3V normally output from the 3pin of IC103 ? Y When you transfer the P/U to the outer cycle, and turn the power on, dose it move to the inner one? Y TRAY IN/OUT ? Y LASER DIODE ON ? Y FOCUS UP/DOWN ? Y FOCUS LOCK ? Y DISC rotation? Y SPINDLE LOCK ? Y AUDIO OUTPUT ? N Refer to `NO AUDIO OUTPUT' N Refer to `NO SPINDLE MOTOR ROTATION' N N N Refer to `NO FOCUSE LOCK' N Refer to `NO LASER DIODE ON' N Refer to `Check TRAY OPEN / CLOSE' N N If the power of IC103(1pin) 5V is normal when you check, replace IC103. N Check out IC304(58pin) change from 0V-5V-0V. C201(11pin). N If the power of IC304(158pin) is normal when you check circuit. N If the power of Y302 is normal when you check, replace X-TAL. N Check the connection of the power short and cable.

When you transfer the pick-up to the outer cycle and turn the power on, dose the P/U move to the inner one ? N The below waveform is outputted in IC304 14, 15pin, R339(PWMOUT1) R303(PWMOUT2) ? Y N If the constant of IC304 and GND, pattern's when you check, replace. Y
SLED operation of normal.
The below waveform is outputted in IC505 5, 6, 9, 10pin ? Y

If the constant of IC505 and GND, pattern's when you check, replace.
Y Replace stepping Motor.

Checking soldering of CN501

No tray open/close operation
Is the connector inserted normally into the CN401 ? Y When the eject-switch is pressed, does the voltage from the 166pin of IC304 change from 0V? Y When the tray is close, is the 0 voltage from the 163pin of IC304 none ? Y When the tray is open, is the 0 voltage from the 164pin of IC304 none ? Y Replace of FRONT ASS'Y, retest TRAY OPEN/CLOSE operation ? Y Replace TRAY MOTOR N Normal operation of TRAY. N Try again after a normal insertion of the connector into CN401. N Check pattern and soldering of the eject-switch CN401 connector. N Try again after a normal insertion of the connector into CN401.
Tray driver IC operation
IC304 19pin change from continue 5V to 0V? IC505 36, 37pin change from continue 5V to 0V?

Is the connector inserted normally into the CN201 ? Y Isn't there any problem with the FPC Wire ? Y IC201's Power and GND terminal normally? N Checking Power and GND pattern. N Try again after replace of FPC Wire. N Try again after a normal insertion of the connector into CN201.

CD : Check soldering of C205, R205, Q201, L201. DVD : Check soldering of C234, R234, Q202, L206.
CD : Is electricity of about 2V input through 81pin of IC201? DVD :Is electricity of about 2.5V input through 52pin of IC201?

CD : Is electricity of about 1.8V input through 8pin of CN201? DVD :Is electricity of about 2.3V input through 22pin of CN201?

No focus lock
Dose the CH1 below come out of the P5pin of IC201 after insertion of a CD DISC ? Is the waveform(CH3) picture of left output through the of R593?
Checking power of IC201 and GND, soldering
If the power of IC304 and GND, soldering is normal when you check, replace IC200. If the power of IC501 and GND, soldering and 30, 39PIN 5V is normal when you check, replace IC200.
Does IC505's 34, 35PIN correspond with CH3 in picture left?
After inserted normally into the FPC
FPC of CN201is normally inserted?
Is the waveform(CH2) above input through the 198pin of IC304 ?
Check CN201 soldering and replace of P/U.
Checking power of IC304 and GND, soldering
Focus lock operation
Based on R337(FOSO) at VREF, swinging wave pattern appears top to bottom.
IC505's 34, 35PIN has tuning wave pattern.
P/U UP/DOWN.
IC201's 95PIN has S-CURVE.

No spindle motor operation
The below waveform is outputted in IC304 17PIN, R343(DMSO) CH1?
Check the power of IC304 and soldering
The below waveform is outputted in IC505 12(W), 13(V), 14(U)PIN CH2?
Check the power of IC505 and soldering replace IC505.
FFC of connector CN502 is normally inserted?
After correct insertion of FFC to Connector, then retest.
FFC of spindle motor is normally inserted?
After correct insertion of FFC to SPINDLE MOTOR, then retest.
Replace of spindle motor
Spindle motor operation CD - ROM READ
Based on R343(DMSO) at VREF, swinging wave pattern appears top to bottom. IC505's 14PIN has tuning wave pattern. Spindle motor rotation.
Square wave appears from 21PIN OF IC505.
Is FG properly generated and suitable to the IC505 24PIN(FG) level?
Does voltage at R343(DMSO) change continuously according to the change of RPM? (VREF: change to the default).

No audio output
Replay of AUDIO after insertion of AUDIO DISC ?
Audio waveform is inputted IC304 116,118pin?
Power of IC304 5V, 3.5V inputted normally?
Audio waveform is inputted L, R ch of LINE OUT?
Replace IC304 if same condition, after checking soldering of IC304's surrounding area. Checking soldering of Line out audio block and retest.
Check the power source
Connector of CN401 is normally inserted? After insert connector normally retest Replace of FRONT PCB ASS'Y and retest.
