. The explanation of special function 6-1. The EEPROM check function at turn on the TV Because the BUS data and the setup result of setting item are stored in the EEPROM, the TV can't work when the EEPROM has been damaged. Therefore the machine can automatically detect the EEPROM at turning on the TV. If the BUS or EEPROM contain has error, the machine will read the initial data after turning on the TV, and set the screen to be blue, and the OSD of "EEPROM ERROR" is gleamed on the screen. At

this time, any operation can't, the TV need be shut off. When the EEPROM contain part damage, the machine may don't detect it. 6-2. The initial function of EEPROM When turning on the TV, the CPU can detect the EEPROM whether is the replaced new or not. If the EEPROM is new, in order to assure the TV working, the CPU can automatically read the initial data and write it into the EEPROM only when any item has been adjusted at "B/W BALANCE" or "ADJUST" mode. 6-3. Maximum positions The CPU automatically detects the capacity of EEPROM, and according to the capacity decides the maximum position. 100 (0~99) positions can be stored in 24C04, 255 (0~254) positions can be stored in 24C08. 6-4. The function of normal remote control unit realizing the "factory" 1.The operation method is shown below: First set the volume is 0 , second press the MENU key to enter PICTURE menu, then press the digital key to input 6568 , the factory function can be realized. 2.The fast method at FACTORY and B/W BALANCE and ADJUST mode: the SLEEP key is used to change among three modes, the RECALL key is used to exit from factory to normal. 6-5. Screen function The screen function is realized when the SCREEN OPT. is set to related value in the menu3. The waiting time of black ( SCREEN TIME ) is set according to the different CRT. The setup mark is displayed in the process of waiting if the screen function has been set. If the screen left side isn t covered, please set the SCR.H.POSI. in the adjustment menu2 to the proper position. The hardware need be changed to produce the phase pulse of CPU if the best state isn t set. The screen function is not used if the screen is not adjusted. 6-6. Over modulation control function
This function is selected when the "OVER.MOD.SW" is set to "ON" in the menu13. The "V.LEV.OFFSET" is used to offset to the video output, the "OV.MOD.LEVEL" is used to adjust the value. Only the fined position can be offset.
6-7. HOTEL mode The hotel mode is used when the "HOTEL MODE" in the menu6 is set to "1". The "HOTEL VOLUME" is used to set the volume, the "ON POSITION" is used to set the position number at hotel mode. 6-8. Only AV mode The only AV mode is used when the "ONLY AV MODE" is set to "1". The TV mode is not realized at only AV mode. Only the picture menu is displayed when the "MENU" key is used and the auto shut off function is canceled. 6-9. SCART input signal detect The SCART detect function is used when the "SCART OPTION" is set to "1". The Pin11 of CPU is used as the detect port that is effective in the low level. The SCART port is connected to AV1 on the PCB panel. The TV will auto be exchanged to AV1 mode when

the SCART signal is from nothing to being. The TV will auto be exchanged from AV1 to TV when the SCART signal is from being to nothing. 6-10. The frequency setup of FS electronic tuner The setup of frequency band is according to deferent FS tuner. The "VL/VH FREQ" is used to set the frequency of "VL" and "VH". The method is the sum of max frequency at "VL" and the min frequency at "VH" divide 2 then decrease 100MHZ. The "VH/UHF FREQ" is used to set the frequency of "VH" and "UHF". The method is the sum of max frequency at "VH" and the min frequency at "UHF" divide 2 then decrease 300MHZ. 6-11.Factory mark and screen setup The factory mark is divided into two lines, it can set 16 characters every line. The content, switch, font, color and position can be set. The factory mark is set, and at least one line among them is set to `TURN ON' state. The factory OSD will be displayed when the screen is blue at no signal. If the "POWER LOGO" is set to "ON", the screen function is displayed at POWER ON. 1). Operation explanation Press "P.MODE" key over 3 seconds to enter the factory mark setup mode. The factory menu have two screens, it is respectively used to adjust the first and second line. After entering the setting menu, press the "POS+/POS-" key to select the option, if the option is selected, there is the yellow piece on the screen to show the adjustment option. The other OSD that are selected are red, otherwise the OSD are cyan. Press the "VOL+/VOL-" key to select the value of selected option. The adjustment of display content: pressing the "POS+/POS-" key to select the adjustment item. The adjustment character is yellow and press the "VOL+/VOL-" key to adjust the content. The "P.MODE" key is used to select the other character at the same line. The OSD of menu is always displayed, pressing the DISPLAY key to exit after the setup finish. The factory mark is set to "to see, to get". The display of content, color, font and position are the same as normal, except the display of that in the factory mode. So the result of adjusting can be directly seen. The setup of two lines content, please not set to layer after layer, in order to prevent the abnormality. 2). OSD

6-12.The realization of automatic adjusting at factory The CPU pin25 is the "ENABLE". It is set to high level in normal. When this pin is low level, the control right of CPU is handed by the automatic adjustment instrument after waiting 160ms. The automatic adjustment instrument can send the data through the BUS to adjust, the adjusted data must be written into the EEPROM. Then the ENABLE port come back to high level, the CPU is normal after waiting about 500ms. The data about the automatic adjust and the address of EEPROM are shown below:
The address of EEPROM: A0H The address of la76810 or la76818: BAH Name Sub-address of EEPROM Sub-address of decode slice R.BIAS 1BH 07H G.BIAS 1CH 08H B.BIAS 1DH 09H R.DRV 1EH 0AH G.DRV 1FH 0BH B.DRV 20H 0CH S.BRI 21H 0DH
Max FFH FFH FFH 7FH 0FH 7FH 7FH
Notice: The Bit7 of "R.DRV/G.DRV/B.DRV/S.BRI" is fixed to "0". The Bit4 to Bit6 of G.DRV is read from the EEPROM and stored in RAM, these data is carried to confirm they are equal to the original when these data is transmitted to LA76818 and copied by EEPRON.
