If you want to upgrade the Firmware of GCE-8481B, refer to the following:
Improper processing of this upgrade will damage the drive.
LG Electronics is not responsible or liable for improper installation of this upgrade.
This firmware upgrade is for firmware versions below 1.04 of the LG Branded GCE-8481B CD-RW Drives.
The ROM version is stamped on the top of the drive below the serial number.
This upgrade is not designed for drives manufactured for HP, IBM, Compaq, Dell or any other OEM {Original Equipment Manufacturer} customers, please contact the OEM for all firmware updates and support for your OEM drive.
Please follow the hardware setup instructions below.
1.Have the CD-RW Drive connected to the secondary IDE channel as a master drive alone.
2.Do not touch or interfere with the drive while the FIRMWARE is being upgraded.
3.If an error occurs during the upgrade process, or the upgrade process is cancelled during this process, damage to the drive can occur. This is your responsibility. LG Cannot be held liable for mistakes or errors that occur during this upgrade process.
The README(EW).TXT is explanation file how to upgrade firmware upgrade of your CD-RE drive.
The GCE-8481B104(win).EXE is firmware excute program.
To upgrade Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98(only windows mode)
1. Remove inserted disc in CD-RW Drive and Connect to only master of seconary port.
2. Download the GCE-8481B104(EW).zip file and Extract the zip file to a folder
(example: c:\>temp)
3. Check the Execution file and TXT file[GCE-8481B104(win) & README(e).TXT]
4. Excute the GCE-8481B104(win).exe
eg: c:\temp\>GCE-8481B104(win).exe (Double click)
Firmware upgrade will be automatically started
IMPORTANT- DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE DRIVE DURING THIS PROCESS.
When the UPGRADE is complete the screen should indicate FIRMWARE UPDATE SUCCESSFUL.
Restart your PC.
NOTICE
1.You must have the CD-RW drive connected to the secondary master alone.
2.Don't touch the computer while the Firmware upgrade is in process.
