1. Installation
A. Environment
The performance of this machine is affected by the environment of the installing site. Avoid installation to the following places: · Avoid installation in direct sunlight, otherwise the plastic parts may be deformed. · Avoid installation to a place where there is ammonium gas. Installation near a diazo-copier may lead to dirty copy.
· Be sure to have enough space around the machine. Be sure to allow the required space around the machine for servicing and proper ventilation.

· Avoid installation in a place of high temperature, high humidity, low temperature or low humidity, otherwise paper may be dampened and frost may be generated in the machine to cause a paper jam and dirty copy.

B. Power source
· Check that the following power capacity is satisfied. If not, additionally provide a power source. Current capacity 100V : 12A or more 120V±10% : 15A 200V : 8A or more · Install the machine near the power outlet to facilitate connection of the power plug. · If the power plug of this machine and other illuminating apparatus are connected to the same power outlet, the lamp may flicker. Use an exclusive power outlet for this machine without connecting another lamp together. · Avoid installation to a place with much vibration, otherwise the machine may cause troubles. · Avoid complex wiring. Be careful not to damage, break, or process the power cord.
· Avoid installation in a dusty place, otherwise dust may enter the machine to cause dirty copy or machine troubles.
· Avoid installation to a place of poor ventilation.
· Earth wire connection Be sure to connect the earth wire for protection against danger. If not, improper grounding may cause a fire or an electric shock.

C. Transport
· When transporting the machine, use two people to lift the machine using the two grips provided on each side of the machine.
· When disconnecting the power plug from the power outlet, do not pull the cord.
· Do not throw toner or the toner cartridge into a fire. · Keep toner or the toner cartridge away from the children. · When the exclusive table (option) is used, be sure to use the adjusters (4 pcs.) on the floor. When it is required to move the machine for rearrangement of the office, etc., release the adjuster locks and move the machine.
D. Other precautions
· If the machine produces smoke or bad smell, stop the operation of the machine.

· Do not use flammable spray near the machine. · Do not remove the cabinet of the machine. · Do not put a receptacle with water in it or metal pieces, which may drop inside the machine, causing a trouble.
· The fusing section is heated to a high temperature. When removing a paper jam, be careful not to touch the fusing section.

· When the machine is not used for a long time, disconnect the power plug from the power outlet for safety. · When it thunders, turn off the power and disconnect the power plug from the power outlet to prevent against an electric shock or a fire caused by lighting damage. · If a piece of metal or water enters the machine, turn off the power and disconnect the power plug from the power outlet. · Do not touch the power plug with a wet hand. · When transporting the machine, turn off the power and disconnect the power plug from the power outlet. (Remove the earth wire after disconnecting the power plug from the power outlet.)
2. Removal of protective material and fixing screw
1) Remove all tapes, then open the document cover and remove the protective material of sheet shape. 2) Use a screwdriver to remove the fixing screw. The fixing screw is required when transporting the machine. Keep it in the tray. (Refer to the later description.)
· Do not remodel the machine. · Be careful not to pinch your fingers when closing the front cover or the side cover and setting the paper feed tray to supply paper or process a paper jam.

3. Removal and storage of fixing pin
1) Lift the knob and gently pull out the tray.
3) Remove the cover from the developer unit.
4) Rotate the MG roller in the arrow direction and supply developer evenly into the developing unit. 2) Hold the paper pressure plate and turn the fixing pin in the arrow direction.
3) Store the removed fixing pin and the fixing screw which was removed in the above procedure, together in the specified storage place in the tray.

Shake the developer bag well before opening it. Check that the DV seal is free from developer. If developer is attached to the DV seal, clean and remove it. 5) After supplying developer into the developer unit, do not tilt or shake the developer unit.

6) Attach the developer unit to the copier, and fix it with the screw.
5. Toner cartridge installation
1) Shake it about 4 - 5 times horizontally.

If power is turned don without removing the fixing pin, it will be difficult to pull out the tray.
4. Developer supply
1) Hold the both sides of the front cover, and pull down to open it.
2) Press the lock release lever, and insert the unit completely into the copier along the guide groove.
2) Loosen the blue screw and pull out the developing unit. Dirt or dust must be removed from the toner cartridge before installing.

6. Toner density sensor level adjustment
1) Open the cover with the power OFF. 2) Power ON (The mechanism cannot be initialized because the cover is open.) 3) Install the developing unit with new developer in it. 4) Enter SIM 25-2. (# C 25 START 2 START) 5) Close the cover immediately before starting the operation. 6) Press the [START] key to start. After completion of the adjustment, be sure to cancel the simulation with the [CA] key.
5) Select the size and type of paper that is loaded in the tray. The currently selected paper type will be highlighted. · To change the paper type selection, touch the appropriate type key. · To change the paper size selection, touch the appropriate size key. · To change the displayed size selections to AB sizes, touch [AB INCH].

7. Tray paper size setting
When you change the paper in a tray, follow the steps below to change the tray's paper type and paper size settings. The settings cannot be changed when operation has stopped because the paper ran out or a misfeed occurred, or when an interrupt copy job is being performed. Even in copy mode, the settings cannot be changed while a print job or received fax is being printed. Note: · 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" (A5) size paper can only be set for tray 1. · B5 size paper cannot be set for tray 2 (However, B5R size paper can be set.). · Tray settings for trays other than the bypass tray can be prohibited in the key operator programs.

6) Touch the [OK] key. 7) A message appears prompting you to check the paper in the tray. Check the paper and then touch the [OK] key. You will return to the tray settings screen.
B. Manual feed tray
Use either of the following two methods to set the bypass tray's paper type setting.
(1) From the [SYSTEM SETTINGS] key
1) Set paper on the tray. 2) Press the [SYSTEM SETTINGS] key. The system settings menu screen will appear.

4) Select the tray in which you loaded paper. If the desired tray does not appear in the display, use the [] key or [] key to scroll until it appears.

5) Select the type of paper that is loaded in the tray.

6) Touch the [OK] key. You will return to the tray settings screen.
(2) From the [PAPER SELECT] key
1) Set paper on the tray. 2) Touch the [PAPER SELECT] key.
3) Touch the paper type selection key.
4) Select the paper type. "JAPANESE P/C" refers to official postcards used in Japan.
5) Touch the [PAPER SELECT] key. You will return to the main screen of copy mode.

1. Unpacking
For unpacking, refer to the figure below. 3) Remove the right and left glass holders and remove the document glass. Remove the two screws (M3 x 8) of the left glass holder and the three screws (M3 x 8) of the right glass holder.

4) Insert the RSPF glass holder to the document glass. Then, attach the document glass to the copier, fix the left glass holder that has been removed in step 3 using two screws (M3 x 8), and fix the RSPF glass using three screws (M3 x 8).

2. Installation
1) Turn off the main switch of the copier and then remove the power plug of the copier from the outlet. 2) Lift the platen cover and remove it from the copier. 5) Insert the hinge portion of the RSPF to the mounting portion of the copier by holding the RSPF at an angle toward the rear side.

6) Remove the filament tape located in the positions shown in the illustration.
3. Adjustments
Insert the power plug of the copier to the outlet and turn on the main switch of the copier.

A. Adjust the RSPF white correction pixel
· Open the RSPF and execute SIM 63-7 to adjust the RSPF auto white correction pixel.

1) Open the SPF unit and press the START key.

7) Connect the Centronics connector of the RSPF to the connector of the copier and then tighten the screws of the connector.
2) Shading position adjustment is performed. (Cannot interrupt) If the simulation is executed with the SPF unit closed, an error is resulted.

3) [ ] indicates the order number of the pixel of the white sheet for SPF exposure correction in the SPF position. When the adjustment is completed normally, "COMPLETE" is displayed, and data are written into the EEPROM.

8) Insert the intermediate tray all the way into the RSPF.

B. Adjust the document guide width (Sim53-6)
Caution: If this adjustment is not performed, the document size display remains special. 1) With the document guide opened to the full, set A/3 (A/4) (WLT (LT) in the inch system) paper and adjust the guide. Press the start key.

2) Set to A4R (LTR) size, adjust the guide and press the start key.

3) Fold the A/4 (LTR) paper in half, set to the A5R (Invoice R) size, adjust the guide and press the start key.

7) Make sure the document size is correctly shown in Sim2-2.
C. Check the copy magnification ratio
1) Place a scale on the original table, and make a 100% copy to make a test chart. 2) Place the test chart on the RSPF and make a 100% copy. 3) Compare the scale image and actual image. 4) If adjustment is required. Execute Sim48-1
D. Check the center displacement
1) Place the center position adjustment test chart on the RSPF. 2) Make a copy from the manual paper feed tray and check the printed copy with the test chart. 3) If adjustment is required. Execute Sim 50-12
E. Check the scan position
1) Open RSPF, place a white paper on the document glass. 2) Execute Sim 53-8 and press start key. Installation of RSPF is now complete.

1. Unpacking
Turn off the main switch of the copier and then remove the power plug of the copier from the outlet.
A. Remove the rear cover from the copier
1) Remove the two screws and then remove the rear cover from the copier.

B. Remove the rear cover from the optional paper feed unit
1) Remove the two screws and then remove the rear cover from the optional paper feed unit.

C. Remove the connector cover

D. Attach the copier
1) Place the copier on the optional paper feed unit and remove the second and third paper trays. Connect the copier to the paper feed unit using four fixing plates and two screws (M4 x 12) for each plate.
E. Connect the harness
1) Connect the cassette interface harness contained in the optional paper feed unit to the paper feed unit interface PWB. · For two tray type

F. Attach the rear covers of the copier and the optional paper feed unit
1) Attach the rear covers of the copier and the optional paper feed unit using two screws respectively.

G. Remove the securing fixture for packing the paper feed unit and remove the packing material
1) Remove the securing fixture for packing that fixes the paper pressure plate of the tray by rotating it in the direction of the arrow and remove the packing material.

Caution: Be sure to remove the securing fixture bofore turning on the power.
H. Change the paper size in the tray
1) Hold the grip and slide the tray side plate to adjust it to the paper to be used. Then, fit the rear end plate to the specified size position.

Insert the power plug of the copier to the outlet and turn on the main switch of the copier. Then, carry out the following procedure.
I. Load paper into the paper tray
1) Do not exceed the maximum height line.
J. Check for center displacement
· Set an original on the document glass and copy it using the paper tray in the copier. Then, copy an original using the attached optional paper feed unit. · If the center of the copy image from the tray in the copier is different from that of the copy image from the optional paper feed unit, carry out adjustment referring to the service manual. 1. Unpacking
Unpack the package, and check to confirm that all the parts are provided.
2. Installation
1) Attach the casters to the desk. Remove the desk from the package, and put it on the floor as shown below. Attach the four casters and fix them with caster fixing screws. (3 screws for each caster)

2) Attach the adjusters. Attach the front adjusters (2 pcs.) and the rear adjusters (2 pcs.) as shown in the figure below.

3) Attach the adjuster covers. Put the desk on the floor in the normal state, and open the door. (MX-DS11 only) Slide the adjuster covers (2 pcs.) as shown in the figure below and attach them. Then, close the door.
6) Connect the copier with the desk. Connect the copier with the desk with two screws (P tight, packed together with the copier) and the fixture.

7) Remove the two screws, and remove the rear cover.

4) Remove the paper tray. Pull out the paper feed unit tray from the copier until it stops. Lift it and remove it from the copier.
8) Connect the copier (or the paper feed unit) and the desk with two screws (P tight) and two screws (S tight) packed together with the copier. When connecting, be careful of the direction of the connecting fixture of the copier.
5) Put the copier (or the paper feed unit) on the desk. Insert the positioning pins (2 pcs.) of the desk into the positioning holes of the copier (or the paper feed unit). At that time, be careful not to break the fixtures on the desk side.

9) Attach the rear cover, and fix it with the two screws.
10) Install the paper tray. Install the paper tray to the original position.

1) Unpacking 2) Remove the paper exit tray cover as shown in the figure below.
3) Open the front cover.
When removing the finisher, put your hand beneath the unit and lift it up as shown below.
4) Remove the five screws, and remove the left cabinet.
Check to confirm that all the packed parts are provided.

5) Remove the screws (3 positions) which are fixing the paper exit tray.

6) Remove the paper exit tray by using care for the tray paper presence detection harness which is connected to the back side of the paper exit tray.
10) Remove the screw, and remove the right cabinet lever cover.
7) Insert the tray paper presence detection harness into the dummy connector on the fan duct.
11) Open the manual feed tray and the right door. Remove the two screws, and remove the right cabinet.
8) Disengage the pawls in the sequence of 1 and 2 and remove the paper exit dummy cover.

12) Pass the harness (packed together with the unit) of the second paper exit unit though inside of the frame plate as shown in the figure. Install the second paper exit unit to the machine, and fix it with the four M4 S tight screws which are packed together with the finisher. Connect the connector of the harness.
9) Remove the screw, and remove the maintenance cover. Remove the four screws, and remove the rear cabinet.

13) Install the right cabinet to the original position, and fix it with two screws. Close the right door and the manual paper feed tray.
16) Remove one round-head screw from the connection unit which is packed with the finisher, and remove the front cabinet lower and the connection cabinet temporarily.
17) Slide the rail under the connection unit to the lock position.
14) Install the rear cabinet to the original position, and fix it with four screws. Install the maintenance cover, and fix it with one screw.
18) Engage the finisher connection plate with the notch in the stay at the right bottom of the machine. Slide the connection plate to the bottom, and attach one M3 screw as shown. (Use the screw bundled to the package.) Press the right side of the connection plate.
15) Attach the rail dummy cover to the guide rail by sliding it along the guide rail in the arrow direction as shown in the figure.
19) After attaching the screw, pull the connection plate toward you.

When holding the finisher, hold the front frame side and the rear frame side.
23) Install the finisher connection cabinet from the left. (A hook pawl is provided on the back. Be careful not to float.)
20) Insert the finisher along the connection plate rail from the left side of the machine until it locks.
24) Install the finisher front cabinet lower with four screws. (First attach the A screw.) A: M3 round-head screw (1 position) Use the screw which was removed from the FIN connection unit. B: M4 P tight screws (3 positions) Use the screws which were removed from the paper exit tray of the machine.

21) Press the finisher from the front to slide to the rear together with the connection plate.

25) Install the left cabinet to the original position. (M3 screws 3 positions, M4 screws 2 positions)
22) Fix the connection plate from the front with the M3 screws (3 positions) which are packed with the finisher.
26) Install the finisher front cover from the left side by sliding, and fix the center of the fulcrum point with the resin clip.

27) Install the paper holding arm.
30) Attach the staple position label to the document feed unit.

29) Connect the machine connection connector, and remove two mounting screws of the plate cover at the back of the machine. Attach two clamps (with screws) which are packed together with the finisher as shown in the figure, and arrange the cable.

3) Attach the PCL PWB unit. Attach the support post to the mounting plate of machine options. Turn off the main switch of the copier and then remove the power plug of the copier from the outlet. 1) Remove the shielding plate. Remove five screws and remove the shielding plate.

2) Cut and remove the cut-out portion from the left rear cabinet. Cut and remove the cut-out portion of the left rear cabinet using a tool such as diagonal cutters. (Be careful about the direction of the tool so that the cut surface is flat) Insert the power plug of the copier to the outlet and turn on the main switch. Then, carry out the following procedure. 5) Check for the PCL PWB. Press the PRINT key on the operation panel to check to see if the copier enters the print mode. 6) Check for the language. Check for the language setting (26-22) following the procedure described in the service manual (section of simulation). 7) Check for printing. For installation of printer drivers on a computer, see the supplied operation manual.

3. Mounting of additional memory

2. Installation procedure
To enable the PS3, the product key must be acquired. (For the method of acquiring the product key, contact the SHARP authorized dealer.) 1) Check that MX-PB12 operates normally. · Turn on the power and wait until warming up is complete. · Press the PRINT key on the operation panel of the main unit. · If the LCD in the operation panel of the main unit switches to the print mode normally, MX-PB12 is operating normally. · If it is not operating normally, follow the MX-PB12 Installation Manual to check and modify the system configuration settings and check the operation. 2) Enable the PS3. To enable the system configuration, use the keys on the main unit to set the mode. Enter the product key with the key operator program. (Refer to the Operation Manual of Key Operator Program.) Setting of the product key is complete. To update the system, press the CA key to exit the setting mode. 3) Check the PS3. Make the following sequence of selections on the control panel. · Press Special Functions , highlight Configuration and press OK. · Use the up and down keys to highlight Test print menu and press OK. · Use the up/down keys to highlight Configuration page and press OK. A configuration page will be printed. Check that the option memory capacity is 128 MB or more. Check that the PS3 has been installed.

This network scanner kit includes the following items in the package. · CD-ROM (Network Scanner Tool and Sharpdesk, Installer, Sharp TWAIN driver, etc.) · Installation caution sheet and Operation Manual (License numbers of 10 user clients of Sharpdesk are specified.) 2) Mount the memory module. 2. Installation procedure
To use the scanner expansion kit, a S.O.DIMM memory module (128 MB or more) is needed. If no memory is added, an S.O.DIMM module must be mounted on PCL PWB. For the mounting method and the memory capacity, see below. To enable the scanner function, the product key must be acquired. (For the method of acquiring the product key, contact the SHARP authorized dealer.) 1) Check the capacity of the Printer PWB memory. Use the keys of the copier to print the configuration page. (For details, see the operation manual.) Check that the capacity of the optional memory is 128 MB or more. 2) Enable the network scanner feature. To enable the system configuration, use the keys on the copier to set the mode. Enter the product key with the key operator program. (Refer to the Operation Manual of Key Operator Program.) Setting of the product key is completed. Press the [EXIT] key to update the system and exit the setting mode.

2. Installation procedure
Turn off the main switch of the copier and then remove the power plug of the copier from the outlet. 1) Remove the shielding plate and the left rear cabinet. Remove the five screws that fix the shielding plate and then remove the shielding plate by inserting a flat-blade screwdriver. Then, remove the two screws that secure the left rear cabinet and slide the cabinet toward the rear side of the main unit to remove it. 4) Attach the fax PWB Mount the two spacers on the fax PWB. Then, insert the connector of the FAX PWB to the connector of the FAX expansion PWB and secure it using six M3 screws with washer.

5) Attach the TEL/LIU PWB. Insert the connector of the TEL/LIU PWB to the connector of the FAX PWB, fit two spacers to the TEL/LIU PWB, and attach the TEL/LIU PWB using two M3 screws with washer.
8) Reattach the shielding plate. Fit the pawls of the shielding plate to the main unit and secure the plate using five screws.

Insert the power plug of the copier to the outlet and turn on the main switch. Then, carry out the following procedure. 9) Paste the label on the left rear cabinet of the copier. Paste the FCC label to the position shown in the illustration. In order to manifest the compliance with FCC Part 68 and IC CS-03, it is required to provide the machine with the FCC Registration Number (USA), Ringer Equivalence (USA) and Ringer Equivalence (Canada). After installing the FAX expansion kit in the machine, please put the registration label, packed with the kit, on the prescribed location.
6) Reattach the left rear cabinet. <1> Pass the speaker harness through the hole of the frame of the fax expansion PWB and connect it to the connector of the fax PWB. <2> Fit the pawls of the left rear cabinet to the mounting portions of the main unit. Slide the cabinet toward the front of the main unit to attach it. <3> Secure the left rear cabinet using two screws. <4> Attach the supplied fax connector cover.

10) Clear the image memory. If an extended memory (AR-MM9) has been mounted in step 7, be sure to carry out this step. If no extended memory has been mounted, this step is not necessary. <1> [P], [], [C], and [] to enter the simulation mode. <2> Use the 10-key pad to enter "66" in the main code entry screen shown below and press the START key.

If you need not to mount an extended memory, proceed to step 8. 7) Mount an additional memory (AR-MM9) Insert the additional memory into the socket on the FAX PWB.

<4> Use the 10-key pad to enter "1" in the submenu screen shown below and press the START key.
<5> The screen shown below is displayed and memory clear operation is executed to restart the main unit.
<6> After several minutes, memory clear operation is completed and then the screen shown below is displayed. Press the Reset key to restart the main unit.
11) Connect the FAX board unit line cable. Connect the line cable to the FAX board unit.

4) Replace the PCL ROM. When installing this kit to a main unit on which the PCL PWB is not mounted, proceed to step 5. Push up the lock release lever of CN13 and remove the ROM PWB. Then, giving attention to the insertion direction of the supplied PCL ROM PWB, push the PWB in until it locks.

5) Replace the FAX ROM. When installing this kit to a main unit on which the FAX PWB is not mounted, proceed to step 6. Push up the lock release lever of CN11 and remove the ROM PWB. Then, giving attention to the insertion direction of the supplied FAX ROM PWB, push the PWB in until it locks.

2) Replace the IMC PWB to the one for security. Remove the four screws that secure the IMC PWB. Remove the IMC PWB while narrowing the head of the spacer. Connect the connector of the supplied IMC PWB to the connector of the MCU PWB of the main unit and fit the spacer. Then, use the four M3 x 8 screws that have been removed to secure the IMC PWB.

6) Reattach the shielding plate and the rear cabinet. Fit the two pawls at the upper part of the shielding plate to the main unit and secure the plate with the five screws. Then, reattach the rear cabinet to its original position and secure it with the four screws. Reattach the left cover of the rear cabinet to the rear cabinet and secure it with the screw.

To enable the Application Integration Module function, the product key must be acquired.
A. Make preparations to enable the Application Integration Module function
1) To enable the Application Integration Module function, enter the product key by the key operation of the operation panel. a) Touch [PRODUCT KEY INPUT]. b) Enter the product key with the 10-key and touch [OK] key. 2) After completion of the product key entry, turn OFF the power switch and the main power switch of the machine, and turn them ON again.
B. Check the operation of the Application Integration Module function
1) Send image data and meta data by referring to MX-AMX1 GETTING STARTED GUIDE (Package part No. 2). Check to confirm that image data and meta data are properly received.
