5. EXPLANATION
DOOR LOCK AND DOOR LOCK LAMP The door cannot be opened when: * COMBO is operating. * DOOR LOCK light is on. * Drum is still turning. * Water level sensor frequency is lower than 22.9 kHz. * Temperature inside the tub is over 45°C or 113°F. * Power failes or the washer is unplugged, until the capacitor discharges and releases the lock. SERIAL NUMBER DECODE YMMOOCCSSSSS eg: 511KWDJ54321 * Y Year 5 = 2015 * MM Month 11 = November * OO Origin KW = Korea * CC Product Code = DJ * SSSSS Serial = 54321
DRY CYCLE Air is blown over the Heating Element by the Blower assembly. Heated Air passes the operating thermistor into the tub. Moist Warm Air enters the condenser at lower rear. Air temperature difference is sensed by Top & Bottom Thermistors and this is used during Sensor Dry mode to terminate the cycle. Water Inlet Valve is energized approx. 30 seconds on and 15 seconds of when the two sensor temperatures are near same. Valve is energized for longer periods at begining of dry cycle. Water spray cools the intake air causing moisture to condense. Drain Pump energizes 3 sec. every 30 sec. to expel 4 oz. water. Estimated a 3 hour drying cycle at 8 oz./minute = 10 gallons. If spray nozzle becomes blocked then water diverts to VENT port of DISPENSER, visible behind drawer at fart rear right. NOTE: The Cooling Water rinses any lint from the DUCT but lint may accumulate in the Hose between the DUCT and TUB. WATER CIRCULATION The recirculation pump circulates the water during most of the cycle. During the WASH cycle, it runs continuously for 3 minutes and then intermittently throughout the cycle. During the RINSE cycle, it runs continuously as soon as the appropriate amount of rinse water has been added. This recirculated water enters the drum at the sides of the door at small shower heads. This spray not only keeps the window and gasket clean, it allows the clothes to be soaked with detergent more quickly and can be used to control an oversudsing event. DISPENSER The dispenser works by directing water to flood various compartments. Note the main and pre-wash hoses enter at an angle. Operating both simultaneously causes water to dispense the softener. Water may also pass through the wash compartments, but since the detergent has already been dispensed, it doesn't matter. WATER LEVEL SWITCH The sensor reads air pressure, which changes in relation to the depth of the water. As water level decreases, sensor output frequency increases. (e.g. A low water level may read 25.5kHz, while a high water level may read 21.4 kHz. These readings are approximate; washers in the field may vary slightly from these figures.) To read the frequency while the COMBO is running, press and hold the SoilLevel + DelayWash buttons. The number on the display should be divided by 10 to obtain the frequency reading in kHz. A display of 239 would indicate a frequency of 23.9 kHz. MOTOR This motor is a 36-pole DC direct-drive motor. There are 12 magnets permanently attached to the rotor. Each magnet is opposite 3 poles of the stator at any given time. A Hall Effect sensor is mounted on the stator. It counts thepoles of the magnets as the rotor turns to feedback the information to the controller. The motor controller can determine the direction and speed of rotation by adjusting the polarity and amplitude of the power applied to the stator.
