Modifying Channels
If the proper channel format is selected (Standard), very little modification is required to
core analogue channels included in the plan, except for additional offsets from standard or
scrambled channels. The main required adjustment to the plan is to properly set any digital
channels existing in the cable system.

Selecting frequencies
Using standard navigation mode, set the desired frequency (FREQ) value. If the
correct frequency for a video carrier or the centre frequency for a digital carrier is not
correct, the measurements made by the unit may be incorrect

OMNIA 8
USER MANUAL
Symbol Rate
When a digital channel type is selected (e.g. QAM256B, QAM64B), the symbol rate
item appears on the screen. Use standard navigation mode to set the appropriate
Symbol Rate. The correct symbol rate must be entered, otherwise the digital channel
measurements could be not appropriate or even impossible. Typical symbol rates for a
QAM64B and QAM256B are 5.056 MS/sec and 5.361 MS/sec respectively.
Level Offset
When a channel type is set as SCRAMB, the Offset item appears on the screen. This
offset will be applied to each video carrier measurement made on the channel. Use
standard navigation mode to set the appropriate Offset value (range from 10.0 to
10.0 dB).
Once you have finished setting the various options (type, frequency, symbol rate, offset)
described below, move the selector tool (*) to REPLACE and press the ENTER [V] key.
Deleting Channels
Using the standard navigation mode, select the channel you want to delete. Move the
selector tool (*) down to the DELETE item. Press the ENTER [V] key. A WAIT message
will appear, then the channel will no longer be on the list.
Due to the meter design, if you are going to delete several channels, start with the
channel with the highest frequency in order to speed up the deleting process.
Disable all the channels included in the present memory Plan
Move the selector tool (*) down to the DIS.ALL item. Press the ENTER [V] key. The
Channel Type of each channel will be set to DISABLE.
Adding Channels
You can only add a channel in the custom plan if the 6 MHz slot that the channel would fall in
does not have an allocation in the current plan. E.g., in case you have channels 79 and 81
allocated, but channel 80 is not defined. If that is the case, using standard navigation, change the
channel to the adjacent channel below or above the channel to be added. Now change the
frequency to the desired frequency using the UP [T] or the DOWN [W] keys. As the frequency
moves into the empty 6 MHz slot, the REPLACE and DELETE items will disappear and the ADD
will appear. A channel name will automatically be assigned depending on the type of channel
(starts at C 1 for analogue, Q1 for QAM channel, D 1 for any data channels, and FM 1 for an FM
channel). This channel name can not be altered. Once all the channel parameters have been set,
move the selector tool (*) to the ADD item and press the ENTER [V] key.
10.3 Print
Press the PRINT [6] key to enter the print menu. Using the standard navigation
