I am pleased to announce a reorganization of Software Operations which will, I believe, enhance
the level of support provided by this organization to the development, test and maintenance of
Core and Star products.
FONT MANAGEMENT
Wally Engle has requested a transfer. I am, sure you all join me in wishing Wally good luck in
his new position.
We are fortunate to have Dick Sonderegger available to manage and coordinate the
development of fonts and font production tools. One other person (TBA) will be working
with Dick on this task.
EI SEGUNDO ENVIRONMENT SERVICE
Cliff Baptiste will manage this area. Cliff has been with Xerox for many years as a CE and as
a branch and district service manager. During an interlude with Honeywell, he was the
computer center operations manager. He comes to SOD from DSO Star Field Service where
he was responsible for X-wire service.
PALO ALTO ENVIRONMENT SERVICE
Ron Cude will manage this area. Ron is a former member of the original SPG group that
built the first production Altos. He has had many years of experience as a technician and as
a manager on the SPG test floor. He jOins us from ASO where he was the 'l'/hole Alto World
coordinator.
Responsibility for conSUlting, AR processing and software support is transferred to the Software
Test and Support area. .
SOFTWARE TEST AND SUPPORT
Test Tools - This group remains unchanged
Star Test and Support - This group is managed by Peter Agh and .is responsible for the
system testing of Star and for support of all Star releases.
Core Systems Test and Support - This group is managed by Robert Kierr and is responsible
for the system testing of Pilot, Communications and Common Software and for the support
of all core systems and other development environment software.
