2-3.1.1 Description
Analog Input The AD9884 is a complete 8-bit Msps monolithic analog interface
optimized for capturing RGB graphics signals from personal
computers and workstations. Its 140 Msps encode rate capability
and full-power analog bandwidth of 500 MHz supports display
resolutions of up to 1280*1024 (SXGA) at 75Hz with sufficient
input bandwidth to accurately acquire and digitize each pixel.
To minimize system cost and power dissipation the AD9884
includes an internal +1.25V reference, PLL to generate a pixel
clock from HSYNC, and programmable gain, offset, and clamp
circuits.
Digital Input The SiI 141 uses PanelLink Digital technology to support displays
ranging from VGA to High Refresh XGA (25-86 MHz), with a
flexible single or dual pixel out interface and selectable output
drive, the SiI 141 receiver supports up to true color panels (24
bit/pixel, 16.7M colors) in 1 pixel/clock mode (18 bit/pixel in a
pixel/clock mode). PanelLink also features an inter-pair skew
tolerance up to 1 full input clock cycle and a highly jitter tolerant
PLL design.
PanelLink Digital technology simplifies PC design by resolving
many of the system level issues associated with high-speed digital
design, providing the system designer with a digital interface
solution that is quicker to market and lower in cost.
DMD The DMD 8460_A is a spatial light modulator that consists of an
848(H)*600(V) array of aluminum micro-mechanical mirrors on a
17-micrometer(um) pitch. Each mirror can be individually
deflected at an angle of +/- 10 degrees about a hinged diagonal
axis. The deflection angle (positive or negative) of the mirrors
can be individually controlled by means of underlying CMOS and
addressing circuitry and mirror reset signals. Effectively, the DMD
is an electrical input, optical output memory device.

Image Processor The PW264 is a highly integrated "system on a chip" that
interfaces computer graphics and video inputs in virtually any
format to a fixed frequency flat panel display.
An embedded DRAM frame buffer and memory controller
perform frame rate conversion.
Horizontal and vertical image scalars coupled with intelligent
frame locking circuitry create sharp images, centered on the
screen, without user intervention.
Computer images from VGA to SXGA resolution input to the chip
can be resized to fit on the target display device, which can also
have any resolution up to XGA.
Video data from 4:3 aspect ratio NTSC or PAL and 16:9 aspect
ratio HDTV or SDTV is supported. Nonlinear scaling and
separate horizontal and vertical scalars allow these inputs to be
resized optimally for the native resolution of the display device.
An on-chip microprocessor and an included embedded software
suite allow manufacturers to develop feature rich products.
Programmable features include the user interface, custom start-up
screen, all automatic imaging features and special screen effects.
An evaluation kit is a available to streamline the design process
and reduce product development time.
The PW264 requires a minimum of external components. With the
incorporation of the frame buffer, resizing circuitry, and micro
processor and peripherals into the chip, the number of
interconnects and the circuit board size is reduced, leading to
lower costs.
Memory The TE28F400B3T is a nonvolatile, electrically block-erasable
(Flash), programmable read-only memory containing 4,193,304
bits organized as 262,144 words by 16 bits or 524,288 words by
18 bits. Smart Voltage Technology (SVT) provides industry-
standard, multi- or single-voltage, dual-supply operation. Writing
or erasing the device is done with either a 5V or 12V VPP
voltage, while all operations are performed with a 3.3V or 5V
VCC. It is fabricated with Micron's advanced CMOS floating-
gate process.
The MT28F400B1 is organized into seven separately erasable
blocks. To ensure that critical firmware is protected from
accidental erasure or overwrite, the MT28F400B1 features a
hardware-protected boot block.
