Subject: Incorrect Degauss Operation. Loose Degauss Coil Assembly Symptom: (143)
Date: June 1, 1998
If the Degauss operation is incorrect. This may be caused by a loose Degauss Coil Assembly. Oil used to inhibit rust may prevent adhesion between the Degauss Coil Holder and the CRT mounting frame assembly. Affected units consist of part of the production with the SN range below 4070016. Then, please perform the following procedure to position the Degauss Coil and to replace the (4) Degauss Coil Holders if required. NOTE: The following items (up 4 per unit) are needed to complete this procedure. REF NA NA DESCRIPTION DEGAUSS COIL HOLDER 12" NYLON CABLE TIES PART NUMBER 4-045-123-11 NA
Solution:
1. Disassemble the unit to access the Degauss Coil assembly. 2. Locate the (4) Degauss Coil Holder locations. There are two at the top and two at the bottom areas of the CRT mounting frame assembly. Refer to the following illustration (Top Degauss Coil Holders Shown). 3. Inspect each Degauss Coil area to determine if the Degauss Coil Holder has become loose or displaced from the correct position. 4. Remove and discard any loose or detached Degauss Coil Holders. 5. Clean each mounting area of the CRT mounting frame assembly where a displaced holder had been attached. Use a mild solvent. Dry these areas thoroughly. 6. Install any required new holders to the CRT mounting frame assembly. 7. Carefully position the Degauss Coil assembly into the correct position in the holders. Adjust or replace any of the side tie wraps that are excessively tight. The side tie wraps should be snug but not tight. Refer to the following illustration. 8. Assemble the unit and verify correct Degauss Coil operation. Cont.
