® Sony Service Company National Technical Services A Division of Sony Electronics Inc. Park Ridge, New Jersey 07656 CONFIDENTIAL Service Bulletin Computer Monitors No. CSI-111 Model: CPD-200ES 210 Subject: CRT Screen Separated from Bezel Symptom: (116A) Date: July 27, 1998 There is excessive space between the CRT face and the edge of the cabinet bezel. This condition may occur during shipping if a jolt to the monitor carton shifts the CRT toward the rear of the cabinet. The condition may occur if the corner mount screws for the CRT are not sufficiently tightened. If the customer complains of this symptom, then please perform the following correction procedure to reposition the CRT. NOTE: The following item (or equivalent) is required to complete this procedure. REF NA DESCRIPTION TWO-SIDED ADHESIVE TAPE PART NUMBER 7-632-453-53 Solution: 1. Disassemble the CRT from the cabinet bezel. 2. Remove and discard any damaged sections of two-sided tape from the CRT and bezel surfaces. Clean both surfaces. 3. Examine the CRT and the cabinet bezel to determine any physical damage. 4. Remove and replace any broken parts or items showing structural damage. 5. Carefully bend the CRT corner mount brackets toward the rear if required. Replace the CRT if there are signs of permanent damage to the corner mount brackets. 6. Reassemble the CRT and cabinet bezel assembly. Replace any missing sections of two-sided adhesive tape between the CRT and the bezel. 7. Carefully tighten all (4) mount screws between the CRT and the cabinet bezel. The correction procedure is completed. Reference: FPR: T0465, J. Grose PRINTED IN USA

Set the AC supply to 120 VAC. 2. Apply a flat field video input signal in Mode 7. Check the picture dimensions. 3. Vary the AC input power supply voltage from 120 VAC to 95 VAC. Check if the picture horizontal size gets smaller when the AC input level is decreased. CAUTION The following Steps require measuring signals in the active AC input circuits. These circuits include hazardous voltage levels. Use an oscilloscope with a Floating Ground. Use the Floating Ground method only with suitable equipment and careful procedures. Avoid body contact with conductive parts. 4. If the horizontal size is reduced in Step 3, then use a Floating Ground oscilloscope to measure the waveform at pin 7 of IC601. The peak voltage should be less than 0.8 volts. Refer to the following illustrations. Correct Waveform on Pin 7 of IC601 5.
