File name 2DC-004.pdf 1/1 Service Bulletin SB Number: SB 2DC-004 Creation Date: 11/09/2003 Subject: How to replenish toner when replacing Process Unit Model: KM-1500 If during the initial set up of the machine, a brandnew PU and toner container are installed in the machine and the power is turned on after that, a toner supply process, lasting about 900 sec., will start automatically. Please be informed however that this process takes place only once, when setting up the machine, in order to feed the toner into the PU and up to the developing roller. When replacing a current PU with a new PU, this automatic toner supply process will not take place. Therefore, when replacing the PU, toner needs to be replenished forcibly by following procedure. Toner replenishing procedure 1.) Turn the power on. 2.) Open the front top cover (Operation Panel Indicator: `OP') 3.) Press the `Stop/Clear', (+) and (-) keys at the same time and press them down for over 5 seconds. 4.) Close the front top cover. (Operation Panel Indicator: `900') 5.) The machine drives and the toner replenishment process will start. (Operation Panel Indicator: `8**') => A countdown will start and the toner will be replenished for a period of 900 seconds. If for some reason it is necessary to quit the replenishing process (while toner is being replenished), please follow the procedure below. NOTE: The replenishment process cannot be stopped by turning power off and on again, as this will not clear the countdown timer. Toner replenishing cancel procedure 1.) Open the front top cover. (Operation Panel Indicator: `OP') 2.) Press the `Stop/Clear', (+) and (-) keys at the same time and press them down for over 5 seconds. 3.) Close the front top cover. (Operation Panel Indicator: `1') 4.) The toner replenishment will stop and machine returns to normal operation. Precaution Do not execute the above operation unless the developing roller is completely empty, as in the case of former PU replacement with a new PU!
