Subject: Rattling Noise Countermeasure Date: May 30, 1995


Symptom:
(53) Rattling noise coming from the TV.

Solution: Please perform the following countermeasures

Using an audio generator set to frequency range of 120~130Hz. Adjust the
frequency and check if rattle occurs. If rattle occurs please perform one, or
all, of the following if necessary.

1. Check if the Sony Emblems is loose. If so please perform the following:

a. Carefully remove the Sony Emblem

b. Apply glue (Sony Bond 7-432-912-52) to the Emblem and re attach to the
Bezel.




2. Check to see if the grommet attached to the speakers is loose around the speaker
mounting post. If so please perform the following:

a. Apply a small amount of RTV Glue (7-322-065-19) between the rubber
grommet s and speaker
mounting post as illustrated
below:

b. Allow for 12 hours of drying.

c. If this fails to resolve the speaker rattle then replace the speakers as follows:

3. Check the cabinet for vibration at the junction of the Bezel and Rear Cabinet. If this
should occur please perform the following:

a. Apply tape, 7-632-661-51, around the Rear cabinet making sure it will not
show when the cabinets are re attached.

b. Apply tape to the inside of the Bezel where the CRT touches the Bezel if
rattling should occur.

c. On the 32 inch Bezel, it is possible to insert double sided tape from the front of
the unit by placing a finger above the Sony emblem between the Bezel and
CRT. With the other hand insert the double sided tape, P/N 7-632-453-52,

zel and CRT. Make sure the tape does not stick out above the cabinet.
