Technical Documentation NME2A Transceiver Overview Introduction This document contains the transceiver level description of the 6081 GSM Class 2 mobile phone. Detailed information can be obtained by referring to relevant module description. The 6081 is a class 2 (8 watt) mobile transceiver designed to meet the car manufactures requirements for installation interface (VDA 25 pole Sub D connector). Data interface is accomplished by means of a 16 pole connector located in the front plate of the transceiver. Functional Description The phone electronics consist of system module (system + RF blocks). External handset is connected to system module with a system connector. System blocks and RF blocks are interconnected with PCB wirings. The transceiver can be connected to data accessories with a data connector and also an external sim card reader. The system blocks provides MCU and DSP environments, logic control IC (EDSA), memories, audio processing and RF control hardware (RFI). On board power supply circuitry delivers operating voltage for both system and RF blocks. The general purpose microcontroller, Hitachi H8, communicates with DSP, memories and logic control IC (EDSA) with 8 bit data bus. RF block is designed for a mobile phone; which operates in GSM system. Purpose of the RF block is to receive and demodulate radio frequency signal from the base station and to transmit a modulated RF signal to the base station. It is also possible insert an external audio generator into "Ext MIC Input", and switch between the ext. audio and int. handset MIC. E.i. with the switch in the "Handset MIC Output" position it is possible to monitor signals from the handset and when the switch is in the "Ext MIC Input" position an external microphone/generator may be monitored. The "Handset EAR Output" is output from the transceiver to the earpice, monitoring the uplink signal. For audio testing connect the coaxial cable as follows: Connect both coaxal BNCBNC cable to the connectors of AudioTest Box marked as Ext MIC input and Handset EAR output. Attach Handset EAR output line to AF INPUT of test equipment. Attach EXT MIC input line to MOD GEN OUTPUT of test equipment and switch to "EXT MIC INPUT". For service software use connect the cable as follows: Attach the handset's spiral cable to the "Handset" on the Audio Test Box Attach one end of the DKH1 Modular cable to the DAU2 and the other end to the Audio Test Box. Attach one end of the DKH1 Modular cable to the phone's system cable and the other end to the Audio Test Box. Technical Documentation Introduction Summary The CAE2 external SIM card reader is designed for the Nokia 6081 GSM car telephone with type designation NME2A and the handset with type designation HSE6XA. The card reader is designed for a ID1 SIM card (ICcard) in accordance with GSM recommendation 11.11 and ISO standard ISO78161,2,3. All cards which do not comply to the GSM11.11 and ISO7816 will be rejected by the CAE2. Only one card at a time can be used in the external card reader. The card reader is connected to the telephone via the system cable and an extension cable, through one of its modular connectors. The handset is connected directly to the card reader through the second modular connector. The two modular connectors are connected in parallel, so the handset and the extension cable can be connected to any of the two connectors. The CAE2 works in parallel with the internal card reader in the 6081. If a card is inserted in the internal card reader, and there is no card in the external, then the 6081 will function as normal. If a card is inserted in the external card reader, and there is no card in the internal, then the 6081 will work as if a card was inserted in the internal reader. The external reader has the highest priority, so if a SIM card is inserted in both the internal and the external card reader, then the external will handle all the GSM operations, and the internal SIM card interface will be disabled. If a conversation already was established when a card is inserted in the external card reader, that conversation is interrupted, the internal card reader is disabled, and the telephone will log onto the network using the SIM card in external reader. Modes of Operation The CAE2 has two modes of operations which is, with or without a SIM card inserted in the card reader. Card Out Mode The card re

Technical Documentation NME2A Tuning Instructions General Most of the tuning are done with help of the PCLocals software. The PCLocals program turns the phone into the Locals mode, in which the phone can be outwardly controlled via the M2BUS interface. Tuning is based on the PCLocals software communicating with the D/A and A/D converters of the phone. In some instances the phone processor will also calculate the required correction parameter. The tuning values of the phone reside on the EEPROM. The contents of the EEPROM can be read by the PCLocals program and saved as a file. This is advisable when there is need to retain that information, e.g. in view of replacement of the circuit. The program also enables writing the default parameters on the EEPROM, in which case all tuning steps should be carried out. If a repair has been carried out on the RF section of a system module then the appropriate tunings should be performed as described in the following section and using the onscreen help menus as a guide. Spare system modules will be delivered pretuned from the factory and will not require retuning. During tuning, proceed as follows: Take care not to damage sensitive measuring instruments with excess
